I encourage everyone to read previous ratings of the App, they will echo my frustrations as well. First, however, let me comment on the company you are supporting. When reading the magazine you get the sense that you are dealing with a no-nonsense, down home, cowboy way of life, sort of company. Well, after your first contact with tech support you quickly realize that you are a small player trying to tango with the Morris Publishing Group. If you look up their brand you get a lot of words like, Media Network, Morris Communication, Gate-House Media, Holdings in Europe, CitySpin and on and on. Morris Media Network Brands includes more than twenty magazines and more than ten Newspapers and many other endeavors. A giveaway to what you are dealing with begins when you look at your account page which is totally removed from the magazine you purchased. The only hint of your affiliation is a fuzzy jpg in the upper corner of the account page. You can well imagine that a different picture in imported depending on what you buy. Other than the jpg this is a money collection page for the Morris Media Group, period. Normally on most websites you would be able to navigate to different areas within the magazine itself but not here, you can’t even get to your magazine from this page. The App has some nice features but for a company who owns this many publishings you would think it would be stellar. Have you ever seen a App without a login prompt? Instead you have to pick a issue and start flipping through the pages until you get a “Your preview had expired now enter username and password . Have you ever seen a login screen without a, reset your username or password button? Have you ever used a App where you can’t reset your password? I mean using your email as you password and not being able to change it, really???
App would not allow me to log in despite following directions given to me by magazine customer service. Magazine customer service did not respond when I asked for further assistance. Sorry I wasted my money on the digital and print edition. So annoying when a company has such poor customer service!!
This was supposed to be the new and improved app for viewing the digital version of WH. The previous version stopped working in Dec, 2018 and the excuse from WH was that they were switching app developers. So the new version hit the street a few days ago and I had hopes of picking up my pre-paid subscription where I left off. Wrong! Yes, the monthly editions are now available, but after the first 10 pages, it tells you your "preview" privileges have ended and you must login to subscribe or restore purchase. Well, this doesn't work! It doesn't recognize my login and there's no way to reset either username or password. So, you are stuck - can't go any further. I've tried deleting and re-installing the app, using few other username/password combinations, and nothing. So the 1-star rating is because I can view the cover and first 10 pages of the issues I paid for but never got. Highly disappointed in the developers of this product.
Yup new issues again, only 6 months late.
Do not spend any money on this app until they get it fixed. There hasn’t been a new issue available in 6+ months.
They will gladly take your money but they no longer support the app. I haven’t gotten a magazine on this app since December 2018. Fraud plane and simple
Extremely frustrated and disappointed. Not sure why processes that have been around for decades are so discombobulated. Like mag-subscribe-receive product. Simple, right?? Not with these guys. Charge your card, disappear. Save the agonizing experience. Go get it off the store shelf.
I purchased a year subscription and have not yet received a issue.
I have had this subscription through iTunes for years. Suddenly, it won’t give me any new editions after the December 2018 issue. iTunes support says it is a supplier problem. Western Horseman says it is iTunes problem. Meanwhile, my subscription is good through July 2019 and I cannot get content. I will go back to paper..
Worst app ever. Never got to read online version after subscribing, kept wanting me to pay again. Western Horseman took a full week to reply to my first email requesting help, and the reply was of no use. Pay for the print version if you really want it, but don’t waste money for the digital extra, it doesn’t work.

Overall bad usability. Asking for me to subscribe for current to read current market month when I'm already subscribed. I'm a print subscriber and selected to pay to add tablet version. App tries to cha get me for back issues.
While the app works after receiving the addition, the release of the current addition for downloading takes forever. I am in the middle of the month but I still can not download current month's issue. This is crazy. Very disappointed!!
I'm an avid horse, and cattle enthusiast and this magazine gives me the inside look on both aspects but the app could be better. Continue to change with the times and I have no issue.
Worst app I have ever used, I bought a 2 year subscription and every time I want to get The new issue The app invites me to suscribe again. Not mentioning that the New issues only can be accesed after The printed issue is already in The market. Worst of all, Western Horseman magazine does not care about its clients, offering this rubish application and selling it as a good one. I do not think to renew my subscription ever. Not worth the money I paid and no customer support. Shame on you.
No customer support whatsoever, latest editions show up when the print edition has already been out for 3 weeks, just too bad as it should be much better managed. This is a great magazine but currently it is not worth the trouble to buy and install on an iDevice. :( Zero stars if it was possible.
The app version is the only way I can view my subscriptions to the magazine as I opted for the digital vision. Now I wish I had the print version. This is due to the fact that the app crashes often and I often have to delete the app and reinstall the app then download the issue again just to be able to read the issue.Not only that, sometimes I cannot access my subscriptions at all, this is especially frustrating to an avid reader of horse magazines. And the issues do take a while to download. With some improvements, this is/can be a great way to read the issues without the magazines cluttering the house.
It's okay is you just want a preview. Basically they show you 5 or 6 pages...just enough to wet you appetite. Although it's an okay app, no cursing, nice horse pics, etc there isn't enough articles viewable to make if worth-while. Also, it locked up on my iPad 2 a couple times, which didn't bother me too much, but was time-consuming. Also, it takes long to download for som reason.
Great content, but browsing pages is painfully slow, like the app downloads the pages one by one as you go even though the magazine is fully downloaded. Also, resizable fonts would be nice.
Magazine is great. The latest version of the app stinks crashes or won't load at all. Get the paper copy and enjoy.
As others have noted, magazines fail to download completely and the app crashes continuously. Miserable experience all around.
The app crashes, takes forever to load, and fails to load some content. I wish it worked. I've loved this magazine since I was a kid. But unfortunately his app is useless. I want my money back.
Doesn't let all of the pages down load . It takes for ever . Then it locks up and can't move anything . If it worked it would be great . A lot easier than paper . Needs to be worked on a bit .
Since the update I cannot download or read any issues without the app crashing. I am extremely dissatisfied with the app. Before the update it was a very enjoyable reading experience.
I wanted to go digital to save paper. Slow downloads, incomplete downloads, all take too much time. For example, opening app takes 45 seconds to list of magazines. Downloading each magazine takes 5 minutes. This months, after waiting for download, only shows through page 15 then hangs and doesn't load. As easy as it is to create electronic books and magazines this is ridiculous.

I like the idea of this it just takes to long for each page to load up to read the articles.
If I don't have my print issue, I no longer have to go without! High resolution with embedded links to advertisers make it easy to find and research top-notch products. This is definitely my favorite app with all the latest Western Horseman news, insight, and knowledge. Every horse and western lifestyle enthusiast should get this app!
